Honey Bees cannot pull their stinger out like a wasp. They have a barbed stinger which means it stays inside of you. When they try to pull it out they loose it as well as parts of its digestive tract, muscles and nerves.

Your immune system reacts by releasing a histamine which affects the area around the wound. This causes a red bump or wheal. Histamine is an organic nitrogen. When the blood vessels expand nerves in an area you feel this itchy section.
